New demands create new technology?
21 February 2008Velocix.com, a technology company provides new generation Content Delivery Network(CDN) to companies who want to serve their online users with high speed on-demand video, game and software services raised my eyebrows.
Everything has a life span, same goes to HTTP and TCP/IP. While they served us well for browser based contents and will of course continue to serve us in the coming years. The new generation of online service requires more and the new technology will be needed to solve the problems. The current web technology is simply too slow to serve large files such as video contents and other types of contents with big file sizes which require high-speed and non-stop content delivery.
What is the answer? The answer is P2P. While P2P is not a new thing, but often times people relate it to music and software piracy. It is true, P2P does not have a good name associated with it currently. However, its great potential could not be overlooked.
